While listening to this week's Ubuntu Podcast, I heard about an interesting little package for the command line that shows a great deal more information than top and htop called glances. I decided to give this a try and, my goodness, it really is top on steroids!
Installation can be done with a single request, allowing you to see a great deal of information about your system. I'm particularly impressed with the DISK I/O view and the NETWORK section above it. People who prefer using the terminal over a GUI interface will undoubtedly enjoy watching this instead of System Monitor.
